Chief Executive and Consulting Lead
Jon holds a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Management Development & Organisational Change, both from the University of Bristol. Following a successful consulting career as an occupational psychologist, he was appointed Organisation Development Manager and then Head of Learning & Development for a major UK energy business, from where he joined the Edgecumbe Group in 2008.
His main areas of interest are senior management assessment and development, building leadership capability, employee engagement and organisational change. He has extensive UK and international experience of business integration and reorganisation. Jon is an Associate Fellow at Saïd Business School where he contributes to their Executive Education programmes.
Sarah leads on our research and assessment services, including Primary Colours Surveys and our 360 degree feedback tools, and has led our work with key clients such as Bunzl plc, BSI, NEC Group, UNISON, Harvey Nichols and Oasis Healthcare.
Sarah has been with us for 8 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Psychology from the University of London and is experienced in research methods and executive assessment and development. Sarah has focussed significantly over the last 8 years on the measurement and improvement of organisational culture and employee engagement, specifically transferring research and theory into practical reports and tools, as well as actionable guidance.
Dr. Megan Joffe
Health Consulting Lead
Through her work with NCAS and with clinicians from all over the UK, Megan has become a leading authority in doctors and teams in difficulty.
Her experience extends to the development of leadership teams, leading change, and experiential learning. She is also an executive coach and facilitator.
Following her first degree in Psychology, Sophie obtained her MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Leicester and is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society, holding Level A and B certification in Psychological Testing.
Sophie is passionate about helping leaders develop their potential and has particular research interests in women in leadership.
Dr. David Pendleton
Most of his recent client and research work is in the field of leadership with a particular focus on the effectiveness of leaders and leadership teams. He is an Associate Fellow of Green Templeton College and the Saïd Business School, Oxford where he contributes to their Executive Education Programmes and was co-creator of their renowned High Performance Leadership Programme. He is also a Visiting Professor in Leadership at Webster University in St Louis, USA. David is the co-author of Leadership: all you need to know with Professor Adrian Furnham (Palgrave McMillan 2012) and is the creator of the Primary Colours Model of Leadership.
David has a BA Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Nottingham and a Doctorate in Psychology from Oxford University. He is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in recognition of his early work in the field of doctor patient communication.
Dr. Jenny King
Associate Health Consultant
Jenny has worked with doctors for most of her career; assessing leadership potential; developing teamworking, and supporting Trusts with medical appraisal and enhanced Consultant appointments processes.
Her main interest is in the psychological assessment and support of doctors and clinical teams. She has been supporting NCAS as a behavioural assessor since 2002, and has supported the set-up of Professional Support Units in several Deaneries. She conducts assessments, reviews and mediation in clinical teams where relationships and behaviour pose risks to clinical care. She has collaborated with the Royal College of Surgeons England to produce their 2014 Good Practice Guides on The High Performing Surgical Team and Surgical Leadership. She is a regular speaker at national conferences on the topic of managing conflict in healthcare teams.
Jenny is also an experienced coach and works with healthcare leaders as well as senior executives in the corporate sector, providing leadership assessment and coaching.
Jan de Jonge
A business psychologist with 18 years’ experience, Jan previously worked at leading psychological consulting firms in The Netherlands and the UK and was involved in setting up and growing other small businesses. Jan’s core areas of focus are assessment, development and organisational development; areas which he has specialised in after extensive experience with both large corporate and SMEs.
Some sample projects Jan has worked on include:
- Design of a Situational Judgement Test for the Research Council
- Executive, C-suite and senior management development and coaching at high-profile, international corporations (incl. FTSE 100)
- HRM analysis of the efficiency and effectiveness of talent recruitment policy and implementation at national level for a Big Four accountancy firm
- Design and delivery of individual and group-based assessment and development centres, for roles varying from executive/senior management level to graduate trainees
- Performance management and staff engagement consultancy work
- Career management and management succession projects for individual clients
- Training of HR professionals from a large and varied number of client companies in managing talent and the use of psychometric tool
Jan is involved in people management solutions at operational, tactical and strategic level.
After having worked as a Police Constable in the City of Amsterdam police force for several years in the late 80s/early 90s, Jan received his psychology MA degree from the University of Amsterdam and completed post-graduate training. Jan is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS; qualified to levels A and B in psychometrics), member of the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP), accredited by European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA Level 2 Euro Test User) and branch committee member of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
Joy is widely respected chartered psychologist who enjoys helping to find a better fit between people and work. She works with individuals and teams to help them identify the right people to fill gaps and both facilitates groups and coaches individuals to enable them to be the best they can be. She works internationally with clients like Allianz, Anglo American, Borealis, BP, Heathrow, Janssen, Marks and Spencer, Old Mutual Wealth, Rolls Royce, RBS and Vodafone.
Her approach is positive, practical and business focused. Clients find her easy to get on with and appreciate her ability to draw deep insights and foster them in others. Highly experienced and constantly developing herself, Joy has a wide range of tools and approaches to draw on, enabling her to adapt to different cultures, contexts and individuals in order to facilitate meaningful and lasting change.
Recent assignments include:
- Designing and running a cross-Europe development centre for middle managers in Borealis
- Assessing senior leaders in Marks and Spencer for development, with feedback and coaching
- Delivering ‘leadership essentials’ programmes for middle managers in Vodafone, covering subjects including coaching skills, interviewing skills, self-awareness and performance management
- Coaching senior leaders on areas such as delegating, personal influence and tackling difficult conversations
- Supporting several well known charities in evaluating suitable candidates for CEO roles
- Assessing for a variety of senior technical roles in Anglo American, addressing the challenge of balancing technical and leadership job requirements
- Delivering high-impact building resilience through change workshops in several different financial institutions
Joy is an active member of the profession; she reviews conference papers for the British Psychological Society, is a founding member of the local Association for Business Psychology coaching supervision network and has been a supervisor for practitioners in training. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Chartered Scientist and a qualified Coach and NLP Business Practitioner. She is qualified in an unusually large selection of psychometrics for evaluating personality, emotional intelligence, cognitive capacity and learning agility, and has trained others in market leading tools like OPQ or using MBTI for team building.

An experienced business psychologist, Felicity has breadth of experience in coaching and leadership development, assessment methodology, culture and organizational development. She is a passionate advocate of personal growth and change through coaching, helping people to define goals that will enhance personal, professional and organisational performance and effectiveness. Through honest dialogue and the use of diagnostic psychological tests, she encourages people to realize their full potential and the potential capability of their teams. Her coaching style is constructive, positive and strengths-based, and she seeks to develop insights through reflection and challenge, to explore different ways of seeing and approaching personal and professional situations.
Felicity is Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, member of the International Society for Coaching Psychology and a founder member of the Association of Business Psychologists; she is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. She is a certified and experienced user of many psychological tests, including NEO, Hogan, 16PF, MBTI, FIRO-B, OPQ, CPI.
She has over 25 years’ experience in business and as a consultant, working globally and across a variety of sectors and organisations, including engineering and manufacturing, banking and finance, local authority, gas and oil industry, retail, IT, law enforcement worldwide and the public sector. She facilitates leadership development as part of a peace building programme with women leaders across the Balkans and has specialist expertise in the psychology of wellbeing and psycho-physiology of stress. She regularly coaches on programmes for Oxford Business School.
Felicity holds a BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD and post-graduate certificates (with merit) in coaching and mentoring and in training and development.
She is a Chartered Psychologist.
Caroline carries out in depth, psychological profiling of senior managers for selection, promotion and succession planning purposes. She has also assessed entire teams on behalf of private equity firms for Management Due Diligence exercises prior to acquisition or investment. She is qualified to use a wide range of psychometric instruments, including Cognitive Process Profile, NEO-PI, 16PF5, MBTI Steps I & II and Wave.
Additionally Caroline holds a Diploma in Leadership Coaching from the Institute of Leadership and Management and a Certificate in Counselling Skills from the Spectrum Centre for Humanistic Psychotherapy. She is an experienced coach, who works on leadership development programmes at Saïd Business School, Oxford University. Prior to retraining as a psychologist, Caroline had a successful career in IT, including business analysis and project management. She brings something of the analytical approach used in IT to her work as a psychologist and is adept at getting to the heart of the matter.
Caroline works in two main fields – with middle and senior executives in large, multi-national corporate environments and with the owner-managers of medium-sized businesses, some of which are family-owned. She has also trained professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, on the dynamics of family businesses.
Mike is a highly experienced management development consultant who has been working with Edgecumbe for over 10 years. His focus is on enabling personal and team awareness and in helping individuals to develop their management and leadership capability to achieve their full potential. He is also an expert in medical appraisal.
Mike is an outstanding presenter, able to work creatively with large and small groups, and is a very skilled facilitator of team events and an experienced coach.
BSc, Chartered FCIPD
After beginning his career in advertising, Nick worked as a freelance writer and training designer before switching direction to focus on strengths-based assessment and selection, leadership development and coaching.
As a Chartered Psychologist, APECS Accredited Executive Coach and Accredited Practitioner in Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Nick possesses a deep understanding of the cultural and behavioural issues surrounding organizational change. He works with public and private sector clients at all levels to enhance their personal performance and professional effectiveness, to develop the attitudes and behaviours needed to lead more effectively, and to boost levels of well being and enjoyment at work.
His coaching style is positive and constructive, and he brings high levels of energy, creativity and flexibility to his work. His focus is on creating open and supportive relationships within which clients can explore and test out more effective ways of thinking, feeling and behaving; clients describe him as highly supportive, reflective, positive and challenging.
Nick has coached and facilitated extensively across a number of sectors including Professional Services, Financial Services, Media, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering and Manufacturing.
A member of the British Psychological Society and Association of Business Psychologists, Nick obtained an MSc in Occupational Psychology from University of London, and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Manchester. He holds BPS Level A and Level B (Intermediate) qualifications in the use of psychometric instruments, and is an accredited user of a wide range of tests including the Hogan suite, NEO, OPQ32, and Firo Element B.
Mandy holds an MSc in occupational psychology and is a chartered member of the CIPD. Having begun her corporate career in human resources she moved to consultancy and has over 15 years’ experience specialising in the design and delivery of assessment and development centres for public and private sector clients.
With a keen interest and breadth of experience in assessment methodology and psychometrics, she has a particular focus on designing quality driven solutions that are bespoke to client needs and which put the candidate and participant experience at the heart of this, managing difficult situations sensitively and flexibly.
Associate Health Consultant
Caroline is a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has over 20 years Human Resources and Organisational Development experience both within the private and public sectors, much of it in the NHS.
Caroline is an expert in medical appraisal and has extensive experience of appraiser training, multi-source feedback, quality assurance of appraisal systems and consulting on appraisal strategy.

Professor Alastair Scotland
Associate Health Consultant
Alastair was a Founding Director (2001-2011) of the National Clinical Assessment Service until his retirement from NHS practice in 2011. He has been involved with a number of key initiatives in the fields of medical education, training, staffing and professional performance.
Alastair has lectured and published widely. He is an expert advisor and contributor to the Edgecumbe Action on Professional Performance team.
Professor Pauline McAvoy
Associate Health Consultant
Pauline has an international reputation for her work in the assessment of clinical performance and has published widely on the subject. She was a member of the team who developed the Performance Procedures for the GMC and continues to lead the GMC’s programme for the training of performance assessors. She is also an Adviser to the Medical Council of Ireland and to the EBMA (European Board of Medical Assessors). She has a particular interest in factors affecting performance including team dysfunction.
Business Manager and Company Secretary
Penny has been with us for 14 years with experience in finance, human resources, management and legal responsibilities.
Over the past year, Bhavna has also been working on internal research projects and has developed a passion for HR analytics and data visualisation. She hopes to help our clients to get more out of their employee surveys and personality and 360-degree feedback assessments by linking this data to organisational outcomes.
Chloe is a Research Executive at Edgecumbe and has been with us since 2015, working across both our Corporate and Health businesses. She specialises in recruitment assessment, employee engagement and organisational research with a focus on transferring research and theory into practical reports, tools and actionable guidance.
Chloe has an academic background in Psychology, Business and Human Resources holding a BSc in Psychology and the CIPD Foundation Certificate in HR Practice. Chloe recently completed an MSc in Occupational Psychology whilst working, achieving a Distinction and the Rob Stammers Award for Outstanding Academic Performance. She is also an experienced user of psychometric assessments, holding Level A and B certification in Psychological Testing and is a certified user of Hogrefe’s NEO and the Hogan Assessments.
Chloe is passionate about helping others’ personal development and has research interests in job crafting, wellbeing and resilience.
Patrick has been active in the field throughout his studies; delivering psychology based teaching sessions to Sports teams such as Bristol Rovers Football Academy, Bristol Rugby and various Sports colleges. He has also assisted and run a number of research projects at the University of the West of England. Meaning Patrick comes bearing a cocktail of fresh experience, hunger to put psychological theory into practice and is driven to continue expanding his research repertoire.
